“Run Run! Mejiron Festival” Held Two Years Before the Challenge! Oita National Sports Festival (October 28th)
“Run Run! Mejiron Festival” was held at the Oita City Peace Citizen’s Park. The Governor, who was in attendance at the opening ceremony, said, “I, along with all the prefectural citizens, will make all the preparations necessary to realize a competition that is fitting for Oita, in which we can realize our dreams and aspirations.” He then bestowed certificates and memorial prizes on the winners of the Prefectural Sports Poster Design Competition and the Mejiron Dance Song Competition.
Oita Certificate of Achievement Award Ceremony (November 7th)
The Oita Certificate of Achievement was awarded to athlete Hiroki Sasahara for setting a new national record in the men’s T53/54 class of the 26th Oita International Wheelchair Marathon. The Governor told him, “Many citizens of the prefecture were encouraged and enlivened by you. I’m expecting you to become champion for the second time at the next Paralympic.”
Group to Visit Thailand Bid Farewell (December 22nd)
A group of youth about to embark on a visit to Thailand through the Prefectural Youth International Exchange Association-sponsored “Project to Support the Children of Thailand-Myanmar” visited the Governor to bid him farewell. The Governor replied, “I think it is amazing that you will go to Thailand with an awareness of the many different problems they face there. Not only the children of Thailand, but you, yourselves, will find it very rewarding in the end.”
Athlete Kenji Narisako informs Governor of his Win (December 28th)
Athlete Kenji Narisako visited the Governor to inform him of his taking first place in the 400m hurdle of the 15th Asia Athletic Games. The Governor commended him, saying “You’ve given me much courage. Some big hurdles are waiting for you next year at the World Competition and the next year at the Olympics. Please keep up this pace and run fast.”
